BPM versus no-code. What are the differences?

When we meet with clients for the first time, they often ask if Qalcwise is the same as BPM.  However, after just a few minutes of watching what our platform can do, everyone knows that it is not. The differences can be seen at a first glance

BPM (Business Process Management) systems serve to support business processes, mainly by modeling them. With a BPM you can design steps, define documents and manage their flow. You can, for example, design the circulation of electronic forms and information. You can also check if a given process is effective and optimize it. BPMs often need to be supplemented with BI (Business Intelligence) solutions that allow analyzing data coming from the processes.

What is our platform used for?

Process digitalization requires more than just optimization or task and document automation. You need a tool that will allow you to manage the entire process – all actions and steps, but also the data itself – including importing and reporting. And this is where business applications come in handy. They automate all stages of the process, much more than just document and task workflow. As Qalcwise name states (Calculation-Wise), applications allow you not only to design the process but also to supplement it with tasks requiring calculations, in accordance with workflow. They can automate tasks within any business area. With Qalcwise, you can calculate and generate commercial offers, compile forecasts and budgets, calculate settlement of commissions, bonuses and retro-discounts, also manage the inventory and get a notification to replenish it.

Another advantage of Qalcwise applications is that, unlike BPM solutions, they do not impose any procedures or structure. What’s more, in BMP any change requires a developer’s intervention and system rebuilding. However, if the process in the company works well, it is properly designed, and you need its automation and greater transparency, Qalcwise is the perfect solution. First of all, you can easily tailor applications to your needs, not the other way around. Secondly, Qalcwise is based on no-code technology, which means that building new applications and configuring existing ones doesn’t require any programming skills. The idea of self-service is that you can adapt the system to changing needs without the help of IT.

Is there any other secret to Qalcwise? The way applications are built. Most no-code platforms offer ready-made templates, modules and widgets, with no place for modifications. Qalcwise’s creators went a step further. They provided users with tools like widely known spreadsheets and formulas, giving them the potential to build almost every business solution. They also allow to integrate apps with existing databases and IT systems, track tasks, documents and communicate the decision (Workflow). These functionalities make Qalcwise an extremely flexible tool, fully cooperating with other systems (BPM, ERP, etc.). As we often say in Qalcwise (and this is not an exaggeration), the only limit to what you can do with Qalcwise is your imagination.
